Oh my gods! The Americans 0wnzed women's saber, yay! First women's fencing medals for the US ever, and two in one event! Gold and bronze, w00t! Oh yeah, we r0XX0r, yes we do~!

I still dislike the political end of my country. I'm just not so embittered as not to cheer for my countrywomen winning at my favorite sport.

Also, 5 questions meme courtesy of [livejournal.com profile] etrangere.

1/ Five books that totally changed your outlook on life (or movies if not enough books)

Only five? Huh.
C.S. Lewis, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (et.al.--my first real fantasy. Since then, I've never looked back)
William Shakespeare, A Midsummer Night's Dream (my first play and first 'classic' I loved)
Terry Pratchett, Wyrd Sisters (First Pratchett, and first parody)
Lois Duncan, The Giver (introduction to the flaws in society, and support of nonconformity)
Naoko Takeuchi, Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon (the first manga I ever read *snuggles*)

2/ What was your favourite game as a child ?

Pretend. I loved to play Peter Pan most of all, and would make up elaborate plots in my head about my adventures. Must have been my first fanfic, come to think of it, and I remember one or two that were no worse than a lot of fanfic you see out there.

3/ If you could change two things about yourself (either personnality, mind or physic) what would it be ?

I would want to be a better athlete, and to have a better social sense. I hate the fact that I never know when I'm on people's nerves.

4/ Give a general message no longuer than one phrase to the cast of X, I know you want to ^^

No, you idiots! (You knew it'd be something like that)

5/ If your life was a musical genre, which would it be ?

Something no one but me listens to or likes, because it contains elements of just about every musical genre ever to exist.

Well, that was fun. Comment if you want me to pester you with questions.

Also, in the interest of putting all my rambles together:

Ares/Apollo is my new mythology 'ship. They are also the official pairing of X/1999. The 'slashing god of war' and the god of angsty slash; what's not to like? Their influence doesn't even need to be looked for.

Conversation recorded in my brain:
Patroclus: *drunk* I hate Book 16. I really do.
Seishirou: *also drunk* Uh-huh. Dying's a bitch.
Patroclus: And being impaled hurts a lot. Especially when you talk for a page afterwards.
Seshirou: And yet, never manage to say what you want to. That was really bad.
Patroclus: At least your loved one was there. Mine was still in a hissy-fit.
Seishirou: Oh, that really sucks.
Patroclus: But y'know what sucks worse?
Seishirou: What?
Patroclus: Knowing that your death is entirely for the purpose of making your mentally unstable boyfriend go on a psychotic rampage, thus indirectly causing his death.
Seishirou: At least your boyfriend doesn't spend half the time hating your guts.
Patroclus: True. And being a ghost was fun.
Seishirou: You got to be a ghost? *is jealous*
Patroclus: Briefly. You get to be mean.
Seishirou: And that's good why?
Patroclus: For most of my life, I was 'the nice one'. No one remembered that I killed my best friend for no real reason, or that I'm just as good at slaughter as most, or that it took a god's direct interference to keep me from killing more people, or anything. I'm just 'the nice one'.
Seishirou: If you've done all that, then why--?
Patroclus: You hang around with Achilles all the time, and you'd look like the nice one too.
Seishirou: Ah. It's not that fun being the mean one, either, y'know.
Patroclus: But you know what's worse than all of them?
Seishirou: What?
Patroclus: Being the dead one.
Seishirou: Word. More vodka?
Patroclus: Sure.
*they get drunk*

Data suggest that 16 is an unhealthy book to be in when you're a love interest susceptible to death by impalement. Hee. Although when it comes to grief-stricken insane behavior, Subaru just doesn't hold a candle to Achilles. This is possibly good.

Patroclus is also the sane one. However, he wonders if spending time with Achilles says rather worse things about his sanity. Who's crazier, the psychopathic loony or the guy who loves him?

Must write Subaru&Cassandra. Yes. Must. But have no idea how to proceed. Maybe they will share their woes. By the by, Cassandra wins hands down. Observe:

S: My twin's dead!
C: So's mine!
S: She was killed by my one true love!
C: I could have saved him if I'd slept with Apollo!
S: My one true love is a psycho!
C: Apollo took rejection like a psycho!
S: I killed my one true love!
C: I could see everyone dying in my visions!
S: After I wasted so much time hating him!
C: And because of Apollo I couldn't stop it from happening for real!
S: I have a destiny!
C: I used to have 49 other brothers!
S: I'm trying to be two conflicting magical practitioners at once!
C: And 49 sisters!
S: A tree is talking to me in my head!
C: The brothers are dead, as is my dad, and the sisters are enslaved, as is my mom!
S: Now I'm a psycho killer too!
C: Everyone thinks I'm a psycho!
S: I think my one true love's eye makes a good keepsake!
C: I saw my city go up in flames!
S: Um, um...I wish I was dead!
C: I was raped, dragged off to be some other guy's sex slave, and murdered by his wife! I am dead!
S: Er, uh, um...I'm bitter and tormented!
C: Even after all that, I'm not!
S:...You win.
C: Thanks, I think.

Mwah. Somehow, I like Cassandra better than Subaru (or Turin, for that matter). I think it's because of that last line. With everything that happens to her, she's strong enough not to let it embitter her or make her hate everything. She doesn't run from her death, but neither does she run to it. That's true strength of character, if you like.

I'm reading angelslash again, and writing slightly disturbing Genesisfic. Blame it all on Milton.

Updates to follow as events warrant.

I loved your conversation between Seishirou and Patroclus ROFL

and the one with Cassandra made me want to crossover Gireaudoux with X (oh.. wait, I already wanted to do that) O_o

(i think Cassandra only wins because of the 49 brothers and 49 sisters, that really sucks :p)

Ohhh.. and reading this (http://mer.aithine.org/fortunetelling.html) made me think of you, because the writer apparently shared you desire to wreck some sort of sense in some angsty boy's brain. You might like it, it's an X / Card Captor Sakura crossover.

Seishirou and Patroclus have a Bond, yo! The Bond of People Who Die By Impalement for Plot Devices in Book 16! Hee.

Cassandra is cool. She's just about the strongest non-goddess female in the Iliad timeline. Which is cool. And yes, she has lots of angst. Gah. For me, the clincher is the 'Saw it all, tried to warn them, they didn't listen, saw it all again' bit. Poor girl.

Much enjoyed the rec. The mention of how 'right' is measured by who wins was strangely appropriate, while we're thinking of Iliad-ness. *drops Anvil of Sense on Subaru's head* *it has no effect* It actually used a lot of the ways I think of magic. Fun!

You gotta give it to Greeks for being able to make all the best angsty tragic stories ^^

One of these days I need to actually read the original Iliad and Odyssey, I don't think I've ever came around to it.

Glad you liked it ! I agree that it really gave a good sense of the magic, especially good for being able to mix the metaphysical feel of X and CCS which are very different in the first place. And I'm too much a tarot geek not to appretiate how she did it.

Humm... maybe instead of sakura and feathers that always falls all the time in the background of X it should be anvils...

I loved that!

Oh -- I'll take 5 questions, if you want. (Is there anything you don't know yet. Gah, I spill everything. ZZZzzz.)

Well, it's true. (I never know how to reply to those things. 'Yes, it's wonderful, isn't it?'? 'Oh, um, thanks'? So I usually go with the latter.)

1. If you were going to die tomorrow, but could have one wish beforehand, what would you wish for?

2. What time of your life do you like best: past, present, or future?

3. Where do you want to be right now, and why?

4. What five books have most influenced your life and the way you think?

5. Angel, demon, or avoid both? Why?

Do you spill everything? Not as much as I do.

Welcome back! (Awwww, I missed the fencing? Darn it all!) Romania got women gymastics, though; YAY! *was being a evil little non-patriot at the time* *can be excused as has some distant Romanian ancestry* And to be quite honest, the Americans just plain old weren't as good. No amount of patriotism can contest that.

I think I will steal your meme.

Really?! *was obsessed with Peter Pan as a kid* My grandma still teases me about me forcing her to don a Peter Pan hat and making her play pretend with me...I watched it for over an entire year, straight. Every single day. I was a strange little girl.

Again, welcome back!

*waves* I still read and reread the original Peter Pan book every summer. It's a tradition. We were both strange little girls, apparently.
