...I am overcome with smugness. Lots of smugness. You know why? Because in this chapter we FINISH the ENTIRE story (well, except for all the bits I need to add in), and we are DONE. *parties*

I cause denoument, which is probably not how you spell it, but it's bedtime. And I cause it in 4,065 words. So there.

In this chapter...well, it's a short chapter with a lot in it. Including gratuitous molestation of pretty young women, who are so Not Interested it isn't even funny. This contains Climax #1, which rather falls flat. 2,163 words.

In which people shout some more, and the plot moves inexorably towards its conclusion. Damn, I need twice the time and space for this, I really do. Caveat: People use italics a lot when they're shouting. I am too lazy to HTML-ize this, so there are no italics in this. Hah hah. 2,422 words.

Stopping just short of 5,000 because the next chapter, being the climax, needs to be written all at one go. Considering I have two chapters two write and just over 5,000 words to do it in, I think I've done pretty well so far. *cheers self on*

In this chapter, no one actually kills anyone, despite their own best efforts to the contrary. And there would be angst, if I or they had time. So. Plot, characters, shouting. We good on this? 2,062 words. Mostly shouting.

(Subtitled "Travel Compression Strikes Back!") In this excerpt, we mostly find out what's going on, and how the characters have changed in the three weeks or so I've been failing to tell you about them. In 1,969 words, no less.

No, I lied. Here is where I really let the travel compression run free. What can I say? I want to actually reach the conclusion sometime this weekend, not next February.

In this chapter, it is proven that events do not stop happening just because Our Heroes are on a ship and don't hear about them. At least one secret comes out for good, and the reader is reminded that yes, the point-of-view character is a sixteen-year-old boy. 3,065 words.

I have finished my required wordcount for today. This makes me happy, as I also went for a walk and lazed around a lot. And did some science homework. I should have brought my textbook home.

In this chapter, the story begins to experience what I am now calling "And then the battle happened" story compression, after another WriMo's index card that said just that. I realized around here that there was no way I was going to get through all the conversations in 50,000 words, and started skipping most of the transportation. Be warned. This chapter is the shortest one; only 761 words.

...Yes, yes, I can do this. I'm not going to have a complete and total nervous breakdown right here and now. Why do you ask?

In this section, certain characters take themselves into their own hands, and Our Heroine is not, by any stretch of the imagination, a reluctant hero. 2,841 words.

I'm a bit behind, because I, being tired, stopped at the end of the chapter rather than writing a whole other scene. I'll make it up today. (I hope.)

See? I told you this was my last couple days' worth of work. In this section, we get some brief exposition, and more character development. Oh, and a bit of angst. It's more than justified. 4,631 words right here.

And now: All the work I've done in the last three days. Fear.

I'm going to have to lose some serious wordcount in here somewhere. Did you know the last five chapters were supposed to be the long ones? Yeah. They were. In this section, not much happens, making up for the last one. Which is why it's only 672 words' worth of not much.

In which events eventuate with a vengeance, and a few more pieces click together. I actually went over my necessary words for today with this, and I'm more or less where I need to be. *cheers* I can do this! This section is 2,201 words, making a total of 5,797 today. Wai~!

All I can say is, it's a good thing Eluial doesn't talk much, because I was getting royally sick of having to thou-ify her words. She's going to have to learn Partelan sooner or later. In this chapter, we argue a lot (rather accelerated) and bury our slain. *mourns* 1,404 words. Yes, it's a short chapter.

...I realized about now that I was almost halfway through, wordcount-wise, and had written only a third of the story at the outside, so from here I try to speed up a bit. Unfortunately, this book really, really wants to be longer. As in, twice as long. But you know what? Not this month. In this chapter, some hijinks occur. These things can happen. Oh, and Corrin sort of makes friends. 2,192 words.

(Produced over the last three days, because I? Am lazy, and a bad person, and argh!)

These guys just go on getting more and more emotionally charged. Poor Corrin. He often feels that he's the only sane person there. Right now, he's right. This bit is 2,032 words. I'm behind. Way behind. *meeps*

Mostly written while half asleep, but still not too bad. This, by the way, is my first passage of "not all races who think they're superior really are" and "people mostly really are a product of their society" implicit-rant. It runs 1572 words. (I can do this. I can. I must.)

...I had thought this was supposed to be a longer chapter. On the other hand, it is, subjectively, very long indeed. It hurt--but the good kind of hurt--to write. I'm glad I had today off; this whole bit wouldn't have been as good if I'd written it over several days. This chapter is 3,128 words long.

*does happy dance* Twenty percent in five days flat! Go me!

In the beginning of this chapter, the plot finally begins to move. It's going to alternate between going very fast and very slow, plotwise, so watch out. But here, we meet some very important people, and some very important wheels begin to turn--or, at least, our heroes for the first time perceive that they are turning, which is close to the same thing.

This part is 1,576 words long. And I love it.

Hey, I did say I'd written a lot today! Almost 5500 words, all told. I've discovered I can write a thousand words in about forty-five minutes, so I break up my time into thousand-word hours, with a little time over for fun.

In this chapter, the plot actually makes snail-like movements toward progression. Have I mentioned how much I love these characters, by the way? 2,008 words, this. Still not as long as I was expecting, but I had the chapter divided by narrative, and be damned if I'll change natural division in favor of word order. There's one really big chapter coming up over the horizon, anyway.
