I need to get things written. Lots of things. So I am going to force myself to write *something* every damn day. Just, words on page, get something written. Every day. Because I've been made of fail, and I can't afford to not write, and also it's probably not helping my current case of emocakes.

Some days I probably won't have aything to *show*, because longfics are long, but this time I wrote a whole thing. Okay, so it's a drabble, but not the point!

In a Deeper Devotion, because I remember occasionally that my [livejournal.com profile] pyre_flies claims exist. And there was a reason for that. Auron, you are possibly not helping my emocakes. Stop that. (Okay, I realize it's not your fault as such. Should I write you some nice AUs?)

I cycled back around to HP again -- which is to say, I finally got through the first Slytherin common room scene in Disturbingly Epic Nextgen Doomfic, which was wearing on me, so now I think I know a little more about Albus and a fair bit more about some of the other Slytherin boys, including one seventh-year who has sprung fully-formed into existence (his name is Yonec MacDougal). And that's always nice. Rose is up next, where I expect to learn less about her, because I already feel I know rather a lot, and more about other relatives and sundry Gryffindors. And then, as so often happens, I got distracted by my reams of Founders!headcanon, because it is medieval and I like medieval. So I thought I should write some down.

Things I do when I should be doing my homework: vars., incl. contemplating the Harry Potter mammoth nextgen fic that's sitting mostly in my brain and partly (only to the Sorting year one of what wants badly to be a full series) on my computer.

I know a lot of people dislike the Epilogue, and really so do I in a lot of ways, but the chief advantage is that there are opportunities to fix things. There's this generation of characters that JKR hasn't had the chance to screw up, whom I can use to highlight and work on setting right the problems with the wizarding world as written.

Basically, the story focuses on Albus Potter, Rose Granger-Weasley, and Scorpius Malfoy, because...just because it's kind of a cliché fic topic doesn't mean it's bad. It just means a lot of people see something there to write about. Like, an opportunity to screw with "House genetics" by putting Albus in Slytherin and Scorpius in Ravenclaw. Rose is still in Gryffindor, though, but with her I'm focused on the assumption that she's going to be just like her mother. She's her dad's girl in my story, for better or for worse. (Also, I like Ron better than it seems anyone writing nextgen stories does. So he gets to, like, actually have an important relationship with a protagonist.) Also on the cliché-train, I'm totally going to end up shipping Albus/Scorpius...because fuck you JKR, I'm going to write gay characters who are neither tragically bereft nor dead nor evil. So there.

On that subject, I'm declaring that all interview!canon facts are canon under advisement and I don't actually have to use them if I don't want to (e.g. I don't care what you say, Albus and Scorpius have the same middle name, because Hyperion is just silly). Or I can just choose to be selective in order to break down the incredible, overwhelming heterocentrism and nuclear-family-fetish going on. So, Audbrey [last name unknown]-Weasley is Percy's husband, not his wife, and their girls are adopted. And Luna is unmarried, has never been married, and doesn't feel the need for any help in bringing up her twins (not after they were both weaned and sleeping through the night, anyway). And I don't think Neville's married, or if he is I'm bizarrely fond of the idea of Neville/Millicent Bulstrode. And Ron is a stay-at-home dad, which I honestly think would make him happier. And they and their kids go by Granger-Weasley, because you know Hermione would demand it, awkward hyphenation be damned.

Because really, JKR, did you absolutely have to declare that no one important enough to be discussed in an interview is gay-and-happy, or a single parent, or just plain single, or without kids? Really?

The long ones, in particular, which I have the most trouble finishing. These are the stories I am happy to babble about.

If I could actually get any of these done, that would be nice...*sigh* I fail so hard at longfic.

By which I mean, give me something to run to when thinking of things to say in Japanese about my hometown gets too boring. Meme from [livejournal.com profile] etrangere.

The Hypothetical AU Meme: Take any one of the fandoms you know I write in, and give me a type of AU (space opera AU, pirate AU, superhero AU, Ancient Rome, etc). I will then explain what story from your chosen fandom I would write for your chosen type of AU.

I...hit page 40 on this thing today. WHY?!!

Answer: because it's a fun story, and now that I've established the characters I'm focusing on they need to have certain scenes. Also, I'm a talky person. Yeah, I know, you'd never have guessed, right?

Also, Even and Braig are probably getting more pagetime than they strictly speaking deserve, considering that last time I checked, this was a genfic. But a)I ♥ Even; b)I went and kicked the snot out of Braig last scene, so there kind of needs to be a scene of him recovering; c)it's not like the rest of the plot can move on until he wakes up; d)Ienzo and Xehanort didn't have nearly as much to say, because Xehanort has turned into an emopants in this AU and wasn't in on most of the plot anyway; e)I already had a Kairi-and-Kairi scene; f)the Dilan/Aerith scene is for later; g)Braig and Even are just hella fun to write with the bitching and all; h)no one else has anything to say at this juncture.

On the other hand, I'm very happy with the scenes they've been in, including this bit of dialogue:

“Excellent,” said Even. “We still have to get rid of our unexpected guests, remember? And don’t you dare tell anyone I told you, but Dilan and Ienzo are stuck. They need you back to work, you slacker.”

“Yeah, yeah, work, work, work, that’s all you ever say.” As he swung his legs over the side of the bed and stood, his head swam and he almost fell right back onto the bed.

Fortunately, since Braig saw the specter of time spent being hideously bored in a hospital bed looming over him, Even caught him around the waist and steadied him. “Come on. Aerith’s shift starts in five minutes, and she won’t be fooled.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about,” Braig said. “I’m just fine.”

“Of course. And you’re leaning on me because you missed me, not because you’re about to fall over. But lean faster, all right? People around here just don’t have their priorities straight.”

As regards fic...I'm currently 15 pages and 6000 words into a Kingdom Hearts oneshot. *headdesk* Oh, brain, why must you hate me so? I mean, I personally think that it's turning out to be some of the best writing I've done lately, certainly the most solid piece of any length, and I'm having all kinds of fun writing it, but...it's gen, so no one will read it, and the established-relationship slash pairing that decided to show up is hideously unpopular, so no one will read it, and it's a one-shot, so no one will read it, and it's not like I even like this fandom! (Present company excepted, of course.)

But. I've been reading too many comics or something, because I thought, "What KH fandom needs is more old-school crack, where people go to parallel universes and meet their evil doubles and things like that, because those are fun except when they're being used to add more bodies to the heap *coughCountdowncoughSearchForRayPalmercough*, and it's not like that isn't totally what KH is all about anyway." So I started writing it. And, because it's me, everyone does a lot of talking to each other, because I find that fun and interesting. And those 6000 words? I outlined this beforehand, and they're the first four sections. Out of nine.

I am my own worst enemy. But! It's fun to write and I think it'll be fun to read, a nice old-fashioned romp (okay, except with angst, because...that's how it happened) with Sora, Riku, two Kairis, and Organization XIII I-VI. And those are just the good guys.

Because I just couldn't resist. Approximately 3,000 words, written yesterday on not much sleep, so if it sucks, don't hesitate to tell me.

A summary would be a spoiler, but if you know me, you know what I was inspired to write about most.

Noblesse Oblige.

But apparently only when I'm sick. Huh.

I posted another fic to [livejournal.com profile] pyre_flies, at long last. It's huuuuge, though, so it makes up. Mostly. (The first draft was four pages, and I was writing on graph paper with my mini-writing [but not my uber-mini-writing], and then the second, computer draft ran onto a *ninth page*, and even though a computer page is shorter than a me-page, that's just ridiculous.)

I have this strange urge to write a DVD commentary for it, just because there are so very many things I want to say about it. Someone, ask me to? So I don't feel quite so egotistical?

Happy New Year to those of a Jewish persuasion.
