I'm currently in mid-chapter five, and will try to get all my words for today posted this evening. Here's the rest of Chapter Two. Chapters Three and Four to follow. In this chapter, I try to address that major flaw of fantasy novels: Where do the characters get their food? This is only 312 words--there wasn't much left to this chapter.

I've finished my installment for today; it's coming, in bits and pieces.

In this chapter, I introduce yet another secondary character I hadn't planned on seeing. The name, by the way, is dedicated to my Math class. 1,631 words--a shorter chapter than I'd planned. I'd expected them to be all 2500 words or so, but I guess the later ones will need the space more anyway.

Hey, I did say I'd written a lot today! Almost 5500 words, all told. I've discovered I can write a thousand words in about forty-five minutes, so I break up my time into thousand-word hours, with a little time over for fun.

In this chapter, the plot actually makes snail-like movements toward progression. Have I mentioned how much I love these characters, by the way? 2,008 words, this. Still not as long as I was expecting, but I had the chapter divided by narrative, and be damned if I'll change natural division in favor of word order. There's one really big chapter coming up over the horizon, anyway.

*does happy dance* Twenty percent in five days flat! Go me!

In the beginning of this chapter, the plot finally begins to move. It's going to alternate between going very fast and very slow, plotwise, so watch out. But here, we meet some very important people, and some very important wheels begin to turn--or, at least, our heroes for the first time perceive that they are turning, which is close to the same thing.

This part is 1,576 words long. And I love it.

Remember, remember,
the fifth of November,
the Gunpowder Treason and plot.
I see so reason
why Gunpowder Treason
should ever be forgot.

We had our much-belated Homecoming parade (around the track) and carnival (outside the track) today. There was a football game on. We lost, some number greater than or equal to 35-7. This is typical. In two years, we have won one game. Ever.

I was there, working the Latin Club table. I also marched in the float parade--we got second, I think. They did the parade at halftime, and you know what? Only about half the people stayed for the second half. That's how popular football is around here. Heh.

I read a kids' book about football-related hijinks at a Canadian boys' boarding school. And you know what's sad? My mom's the one who got it out of the library in the first place.

Every week, I resolve to do some of my homework before Sunday. I never do. This time, I blame Homecoming and dinner guests. So there.
