Started working on the chapter to follow What's Past is Prologue (yeah, remember that?) in the story which I am going to fangirlishly title The Lord of Castle Black. If you don't know why fangirlishly, don't worry. Thus, the royal palace is now Castle Black, on the grounds that Yukito is the main character and thus the title should refer to him. Also, red is the color of mourning (stealing shamelessly is all very well, but I draw the line at taking the color scheme. Besides, grey really wouldn't work in context), and the two highest officials in the Kingdom, besides the King and Queen, are the High Wizard and (surprise, surprise) the Warlord. If anyone can guess who they are, I give them a cookie. Biiiig cookie...Oy, Yukito! You can't guess, you're in the story! Kero-chan!
I just finished the coronation scene, which was really quite short and easy, and am now faced with writing the first scene between our Royal Couple. Not entirely sure how formally I'm going to have people speak in a general way, but I expect to get lazy and start cribbing even more shamelessly from Paarfi. Which will take some doing; our young Captain is already mentally designated as Touya Kinomoto of Castlerock, and the capital city really wants to be Adrilankha but won't be, because I'm not that shameless just yet.
Have decided that the Amamiya(incl.the Daidoujis) and Li clans are two of the most powerful families, next to the royal family (what's their name, anyway? Gah!), and that there was some fuss over Nadeshiko Amamiya marrying an obscure Count of a comparatively unknown family called Kinomoto. ;D. Think Eriol (his mother was a whatever-the-royal-family's-name-is, Clow's younger sister) is next in line for the throne, until such time as Tomoyo bears a child. Gender equality here, thank goodness, which is why Sonomi and Tomoyo have the considerable power of the Amamiya family backing them up despite their name. Wonder who the Daidoujis are. Expect highly bred, but not as wealthy as the Lis or Amamiyas. Thus, Tomoyo was the perfect choice for Consort.
Yes, Tomoyo and Yukito are married. Yes, Tomoyo will at some point bear his child. No, I am not 'shipping Yukito/Tomoyo. Yes, their marriage was arranged when they were both quite small. No, it is not going to break up. How could it? The-oh, let's just go with Reed-the Reed family, the royal family, relies to a degree on the backing of many of the most powerful members of the Amamiya and Daidouji clans. Conversely, those clans require royal support. Breaking off the marriage would result in withdrawal of that support. It would only even be feasible if marriage with, say, the Crown Princess of a foreign country were arranged (it's not), and even then...these people don't do divorce, much. Duels between spouses, however, are possible. But the Amamiya-Daidouji-Reed connection would certainly not be broken off because of the King and/or Queen's interest in certain members of an increasingly less obscure family. And yes, child. Duh? Does 'royal heir' mean anything? Quite possibly more than one, although probably only one in the confines of the story. That's the way it goes.
I just wanted to write an arranged marriage that neither was (or wanted to be) escaped from, nor resulted in the couple falling madly in love with each other.
Well, I've got them crowned. Long live King Yukito! Long live Queen Tomoyo!...Now what?
Right. Conversation. Formal reception. Even more formal oathtaking ceremony.
I don't think we'll be seeing the Captain of the Guard for a while.
