Beginning work on Ch. 1 of Contrast in Darkness resulted in a lot of worldbuilder's notes, a discovery of a basic principle behind the elven society (they revere the god of darkness, because, as they have pale skin, they live in shadowy places, like woods and underground), discussion of naming custom in various cultures, a name for four languages, and some words in each. This world's major races will be human, elven, orc, and marsh-wiggle, as well as any combination thereof. And humans, especially outside the high nobility, tend a great deal towards mixed (example: Lindau's mother has Orkish ancestry somewhere, and her father has a paternal ancestory who was a marsh-wiggle...err, Shigu). Yay.

Have discovered that POV character is really a rather odd friend for Lindau to have, as he's rather conventional, by Paran standards, which is not very, but she is unconventional, even by Paran standards. Well, she's been away for four years, and they were only twelve when she left, so I guess that explains a good bit.

Yes, I have teenage heroes. I can't write grownups, never having been one.

Also, it seems the god of darkness is also god of protection. Have thus decided that almost all the large predators in this world are diurnal. Not quite sure what that means, except it explains why Lin ran off at night.

I love worldbuilding, I do!
