Religion, in small doses, has never hurt anyone.
L'shana tovah, everyone! Welcome to 5766! *does little happy dance of my-calender-has-higher-numbers-than-yours*
Truly and in fact, I do like being Jewish. This does not in any way conflict with my less-than-religious beliefs about gods. I'm not sure how it doesn't, but it doesn't. I figure if anyone out there doesn't like what I'm writing, he/she/it/they will let me know.
Apropos of which, the sermon at the service this morning was very interesting. It was about how, basically, being a prophet or having a prophetic voice consists of arguing with God when God is doing something wrong. An interesting interpretation of the passage (sacrifice of Isaac).
I was amused by the cantor, a student from DC (this whole High Holidays thing is student-run) who was really quite good-looking. (*squeals*) It was the guitar, I think. Well, the combination of the light grey suit, the tallit, and the guitar.
Judaism: It's like a country music concert, only better dressed!
