I updated Shadowstalker, as you can see, and I also wrote this rant:

Am I the only one who knows...?

It features all the spelling/grammar peeves that have been building up in my brain. Fear them.

[livejournal.com profile] butterflydrming, I saw a butterfly today, and I thought of you. It was a black swallowtail, with one band of pure blue, the sort of blue that puts sapphires to shame, along the bottom of its wings. It fluttered along in front of me, and rested on a serpent-green plant for just a moment. Then it flitted away up the hill. I watched it for about fifteen seconds.

It was a perfect moment. Those are all too rare. It's difficult to stay sad when the wind (or possibly katydids) whispers through the trees, and there is a beautiful butterfly dreaming in your garden.

Also, it is now raining. I like summer rain. There was one flash of lightning, one (really scary) crash of thunder, and then nothing but peaceful, cooling rain. I like summer rain. It makes me feel at peace. And less hot and sticky, which is also very popular, and undoubtedly contributes to the former state.

Reread The Phantom Tollbooth (Norton Juster). It is so very whimsically philosophical, like a less cynical Pratchett or the occasional very good piece of fanfiction. I don't think I will ever quite be able to grasp it. It's full of wordplay--it is wordplay--and it made me feel so much better about my future.

We all know we can do anything, deep down inside. But sometimes...we need reminding.
