...*bunnied*

So, Michael (I just can't work 'Booster' into a medieval AU, it doesn't work that way) grew up in, like, Greece or something, because his mother was a local woman who had an affair with a Crusader, who naturally went off to seek the Holy Land and either died or couldn't be arsed to come back. Michael eventually "acquired" a particularly shiny suit of armor (disclaimer: the previous owner was, well, 'previous', through no fault of Michael's) and decided to go to England, where his father was apparently from, pretending to be the *legitimate* orphan son of an English knight. Don't ask me how he manages to learn the rules of this completely different social circle; he's a quick study or hung around the Crusaders or something. Anyway, in the course of his Heroic Deeds his armor is damaged and, since he obviously can't afford to get new armor, he seeks help from...

Theodore is the son of a minor lord, who doesn't get along with his father mostly because of his penchant for blacksmithing. He compounds this 'disgrace' by being really damn good at it, and by making mildly ridiculous sums of money in making devices of various sorts. Also, he never took much to armed combat, but regularly trounces all comers in wrestling or boxing. When Michael shows up asking for help, he is more than happy to beat the damaged armor into better shape than before.

Together, they fight crime! Well, I'm pretty sure they end up in some kind of Robin Hood outfit, because they're much more the "lovable rogues" type than the "noble Crusader" type, and also the Crusades just weren't funny. But if they become part of this...see, this nobleman by the name of "Maxwell"...or maybe that's his family name, I dunno...starts for some incomprehensible reason an Arthurian outfit (they did this even back then, historically speaking)...and I'm trying to resist the urge to call it "Lord Maxwell and his Merry Men" and not actually succeeding very well...anyway, Theodore and Michael can be their wacky selves without breaking the traditional storyline. And obviously the rest of the JLI are there too. Especially Guy, because he actually isn't obviously misplaced just by existing, and Tora, who wouldn't be any *more* misplaced by being from a secret Norwegian kingdom then than she is now. And Beatrice has to undergo a nationality change, but she can be Portuguese, which is close enough considering that most definitions of "medieval" are "definitely before 1492". And I swear, I will think of a justification for Barda if it's the last thing I do.

I'm not sure if Skeets is the Noble Steed or just some long-suffering person who goes along with Michael in a desperate attempt to keep him out of trouble.
