Happy New Year, everyone. May it be better than the last.

(P.S. to the weather god: Rain on New Years' Day? DO NOT WANT.)

But then the rain causes a power outage and you wake up and go to turn on the lights and go, "Whuh?" And it's freakin' January. It should be cold.

Okay, you've got me there. Power outages suck.

On the other hand, if you live where I do, you have tons of above-ground wires that the town is too cheap to put underground. There are also tons of trees. And during storms, the wires break under the weight of ice, or get smashed by broken-off tree branches. And then, of course, you get other power outages.

And ice storms. God, I hate ice storms. I remember an ice storm when we didn't have heat or electricity for five days. Neither did most of the rest of the state.

And it's freakin' January. It should be cold.

It should. But it still looks like November, doesn't it?

Um, think of it this way: If it had been snow, it still would've caused a power outage and the roads would be terrible so you wouldn't be able to do anything but stay in a power-less house?
